The backstage pass debuts with Lenyx Sullivan as the lovely Kelli Monroe sits down and does a one on one interview.
Hello and welcome to the first edition of the backstage pass, I am the host of the show Kelli Monroe. My first guest of the show will be the co-owner and the head of talent relations, Lenyx Sullivan. How neat is that going to be?
(The crowd cheers as Kelli claps her hands as well as she re-positions herself in her chair.)
The Backstage Pass is going to be an amazing addition to the Next Level portfolio as we dive into your favorite stars and executives and ask the questions YOU want to know. So, should we get the beautiful Lenyx Sullivan out here?
(The crowd again cheers for Lenyx and Kelli stands to her feet as the petite blonde looks over towards the entrance)
Ladies and gentlemen, the co-owner of Next Level Talents, Mrs. Lenyx Sullivan!
(Lenyx makes her way out as she smiles brightly, walking towards the stage. She holds out her hand to shake Kelli’s hand before taking a seat. Kelli does the same as she smiles over at her)
Hi, thank you for having me. I am so happy to be here.
Well, we’re glad to have you a part of our first show here and everything. How does it feel to be the first one to come walking through those doors? What was it like to prepare yourself for the possibility of off the wall questions that may come your way this evening?
To be honest, I was a bit nervous, but I am also excited to be here. I also feel honored to be the first one to walk through those doors. I told myself to be honest and answer all the questions to the best of knowledge. That is all I can do.
Well, that is amazing to hear that you will be honest with all your fans and with everyone here in the audience. It does appear you are pregnant, how far along are you now?
Yes, of course. That’s the way to be to not only the fans, but to others. Yes, I am pregnant with a baby girl. I am 21 weeks along. My husband and I are very excited.
So tell us, how does one manage being pregnant, running a successful business and having a happy husband? It must be hard to balance it all out. Do you have tips for anyone else out there that are looking to step up and become, supermom?
I wouldn’t call myself a supermom, but I do have very supportive people around me. In the beginning of my pregnancy, I was exhausted and sick, but I pushed through because I knew I needed to get things done for work. I feel when you want something, then you put your mind to accomplishing it. I make sure to spend as much time as I can with my husband. I make sure to put him as one of my top priorities. One tip I have is to get yourself a supportive group of people around you. Another tip is if you fail, then push yourself back and try again. Failures are just stepping stones towards your success. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Supermoms are not perfect.
Great words from a very aspiring woman right there. Is the baby's father, Jax, happy with the news that it is going to be a baby girl? It seems that rumors hoped he was hoping for a son. Or did it not really matter to him what you two were having?
Thank you, I appreciate that. Jax is very happy about the fact that we are having a little girl. I think all men want a little boy, so he was hoping, but it truly didn’t matter the gender because he will love our baby no matter what. Now, he will be surrounded by girls. Lucky him.
What about you, what does momma plan on doing after the baby is born? Do you plan on returning back to modeling after the baby is born and of course I am talking about a few months when you’re ready to return? Or do you wish to keep on looking in and guiding the girls that look up to you?
I plan on taking the time with my baby at first, then returning to work when I am ready to go back. I haven’t truly decided on that. I may do some modeling here and there, but staying mostly behind the scenes. I will continue to guide those girls with the best of my ability and knowledge to help them succeed. So you may see me in some photo shoots, but not full-time.
Okay, so we will see you directing things by the sounds of it. How has the transition been with moving from in front of the camera to behind it? Was it hard to get used to?
You may even see me be the photographer in a few shoots. I have done a few photo shoots where I worked the camera. It was fun. It was easy to direct the models on how I wanted the picture to look, and I didn’t have any issues with them. I think I found it to be more relaxing than being in front of the camera. Models can be hard on themselves to make sure they are perfect in every picture, but I try to make them see the beauty of themselves and not what society says. So, no, it was not hard to get used to the transition.
And how is the relationship with Drake? I know you two were once romantically linked. There are no issues there with you two running the company together?
Drake and I are friends and business partners. Drake is amazing, smart, and works hard to make sure that everything is going smoothly. He makes sure to reach out to everyone to check on them. Yes, Drake and I used to date, but that doesn’t affect our work relationship. There are no issues between us because I trust him and he trusts me.
So you guys have had some very successful events over the last couple of months and there seems to be a planned jaws theme according to your guy’s twitter account. Is that confirmed? And could you give us any insight on any other ideas or events you guys may have planned in the near future?
Yes, the Jaws event is going to be so much fun. I am looking forward to it. There will be another one to end the summer. I don’t want to give too much away because it’s a cool idea. I gave a little hint in that sentence. We are working on a few more events, but we haven’t finalized them. People will have to keep a watch for announcements on Twitter.
So it sounds like things are going very well with you guys and your events. I noticed that Lily has come into the management scene and has really been pitching some ideas for the staff for events. How does she freshen up the ideas that you, Drake & Sophia already have?
Yes, things are going very well. Lily is my lifesaver! She has helped me whenever I need her. Yes, Lily is very talented with her ideas. She brings in a new set of ideas on what is popular and can be fun to do for the agency. She is an event planner. She has experience with planning these types of events that help us improve on our ideas. She is an asset to our team. I am happy that we brought her on board.
I will have to keep that in mind whenever we are able to interview her in the near future. So with us on the topic of Next Level. You guys have a good crew it seems in terms of a mixture of talent from models, to dancers to singers to professional fighters. You have literally everything in between. Is there something you want to see Next Level bring in talent-wise or wish to see Next Level open up or buy out such as another Apex Records or the affiliation with the beauty salon?
Yes, I would love to see her be interviewed in the future. It is great that we have Apex Records, Be Moore Beautiful Salon, and we have a dance studio called Dance Fusion Studio. That’s an excellent question, we could go down any path in the entertainment business. We could use more people in sports, maybe a race-car driver, maybe an artist who paints or makes sculptures, or even a writer. I feel the options are endless here at Next Level. We welcome everyone into our family.
Well, anyone out there that is listening to Mrs. Sullivan here she is stating that Next Level is open for business and is looking for all types of talent to come to join the family and while I have only have been in the family for a few weeks they have opened their arms wide and have taken me in. There is a lot of different talent agencies out there. Which obviously you were a part of before heading over and creating this wonderful place with Drake. But before creating Next Level have you ever turned down a business opportunity for what you may deem shady?
Yes, we are welcoming all different talents to join us and be a part of Next Level. Yes, I was a part of one before agreeing to jump ship and help build Next Level with Drake. He was the brains behind this whole agency, I am just the woman beside the man helping to promote and keep the talent happy and in line. Honestly, I have turned down a business opportunity due to not having trust within the company. I believe I have a good sense of knowing if a business deal is good or bad. I also think it helps when you have an insight into the people running the business.
I think you have the business sense if you are doing this well and you are running the company along with Mr. Beckett. Before we let you go, would you like to tell anyone out there anything about Next Level or maybe give some insight on how to reach out if they’re shy and contact you guys about seeking a spot on your already talented roster
Well, thank you. Yes, I believe we have the hang of it. Next Level is not like any other talent agency, we treat each other like family. We will always support each other no matter what. If anyone is interested in joining us, please go to Next Level’s twitter page @NxtTalents, and send us a direct message. We will link you to the application to get you started on the process of joining.
